This week, Kevin Durant met with Nets owner Joe Tsai to work out a plan for the future. Despite hesitation from teams around the league, Durant is still holding firm on his trade request and it seems like only a matter of time before he’s wearing a different jersey.
In a recent appearance on ‘NBA Today,’ league insider Bobby Marks spoke about the situation in Brooklyn and noted how the current roster they have would be the best Durant has played with since joining the team.
“This roster is probably the best that Kevin Durant has had since his stay in Brooklyn when you look at Kyrie Irving, a healthy Ben Simmons, and then some of the moves they were able to do as far as TJ Warren and bringing back Patty Mills and Nic Claxton. Their bench has certainly gotten a lot better, Joe Harris is back. We can talk about this team as a top-4 team. So I think you do everything in your power to try to fix what the problem is and get Kevin Durant back on board.”

It’s easy to forget just how stacked the Nets really are. Even amid all this chaos, they still have a pretty good team on paper.
Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, and Joe Harris are just some of the names on the team, and it’s good enough to compete with any team in the league.
But without Durant, they are a first-round exit at best. If Joe Tsai and Sean Marks can somehow convince KD to stay on board, it could buy them several more years of contention. At the very least, they could go into the 2022-23 campaign with title aspirations.
For now, though, Nets fans are forced to wait as Durant’s unhappiness looms over the franchise like a dark cloud on a rainy day.
