After going down in Game 1 against the Bucks, Heat guard Tyler Herro has had to watch from the sidelines as his team makes the most improbable playoff run in the modern NBA era. Despite Herr’s absence, the Heat have thrived over the past few weeks and now find themselves with a chance to win the title in the NBA Finals.

Fortunately for the Heat, Herro is expected to return at some point in this series and the latest from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski suggests he could suit up as soon as Game 2.

“I’m told that Game 2 on Sunday looms as a possibility for Tyler Herro. He’ll have a couple more days here to test out that fractured right hand that has now healed. He’s on the court working out. Can that hand take contact? With players coming back from an injury like that, you have to be ready to absorb contact. But, certainly, Sunday Game 2 is something he will test it out for. But if not Sunday, then game 3 on Wednesday back in Miami, barring a setback of confidence, he will be ready to return.”

Herro, 23, emerged as a sort of third star for the Heat last season, where he averaged 20.7 points per game on 39% shooting from three. For a Miami offense that struggled all year to hit their shots, Herro was an important contributor for them offensively.

Somehow, the Heat have managed to win without him, thanks to big performances from Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent, and (of course) Jimmy Butler. But if Herro is able to return early in this Finals series, it could tip the scales in Miami’s favor.

Can The Heat Beat The Nuggets?

As the 8th seed coming into these playoffs, it should be no surprise to anyone that the Heat have been underdogs in almost every series so far. Against the Nuggets, they will face arguably their biggest chance yet, and nobody is picking them to come out on top.

Regardless, Miami will come ready to play, and they should not be overlooked to win it all.
