Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the league, and there’s no doubt he can be a franchise-changing superstar. Despite his trade request, Durant has not yet been traded, partly due to the Brooklyn Nets’ colossal asking price.
NBA insider Brian Windhorst has recently claimed that a lot of teams have given the Brooklyn Nets their potential offers for Kevin Durant and are not improving them because “nobody else is raising their”. It makes sense that teams would not want to overpay in a trade, even for a talent like Kevin Durant.
“I’m not even sure the Suns can put together an offer that the Nets would be interested in by themselves. I think this is where the other teams are as well.
“I think the other teams have said, ‘Brooklyn, here is our offer. I don’t have any incentive to raise our offer because I know nobody else is raising theirs.’
It remains to be seen when Kevin Durant will be traded. Teams are clearly not trying to offer up their own stars for Kevin Durant as of now. It was notably reported that the Brooklyn Nets aren’t happy with what they’re getting in trades for Kevin Durant right now and that the optimal scenario for the team is to keep him on the roster.
“The executives are going on vacation… At this point, the Nets’ preferred situation is for Kevin Durant to stay with them. There is no trade that they’ve got that they like.”
Running it back with the Brooklyn Nets could end up being beneficial for Kevin Durant, as they have a lot of solid role players on the roster. He would also theoretically have co-stars Kyrie Irving and Ben Simmons on the roster.
However, it is more likely that Kevin Durant wants to leave. Hopefully, he and the Brooklyn Nets find a way for him to switch teams, and we’ll have to wait to see where he ends up.
