When Anthony Davis was finally traded to the Purple and Gold in June of 2019, it marked the start of a new era for the franchise.
From that moment forward, everybody knew a dynasty had formed — though, nobody was prepared for how things would play out in this offseason.
Clearly disappointed by their performance in the 2021 season, Rob Pelinka and the front office went out and made a number of big moves, essentially building a superteam in Lakerland.
To recap the past couple of days, the Lakers have traded for Russell Westbrook and signed Carmelo Anthony, Kendrick Nunn, Malik Monk, Wayne Ellington, Trevor Ariza, Dwight Howard, and Kent Bazemore.
The sum of their roster currently holds 5 MVPs, 4 Defensive Player of the Year awards, 55 All-Star appearances, 46 All-NBA selections, 8 Gold medals, and 4 scoring titles.
I repeat, these Lakers are the most STACKED team we have ever seen on paper. Literally. pic.twitter.com/zgLtFEk9R8

On paper, it’s probably the most stacked group ever assembled — and that’s saying quite a bit.
The real question however is whether or not it will be enough to win.
As good as the roster appears, most of the team is over 32-years-old, and several are over 35 (including LeBron James).
In a deep conference with all kinds of threats, it certainly won’t be easy to win the West again and even harder to face the Brooklyn Nets, who have a superteam of their own.
But with so much talent and experience, the Lakers once again find themselves in a position to win the title. For us fans, all we have to do is sit back and enjoy the show.
