Allen Iverson To A Player At The Free-Throw Line: ‘Only Reason You Got That $5M Is For Running Around After Me.’

2 Min Read

Allen Iverson was a straight savage. He was a very fierce competitor and always let people know what was up.

The Answer collected plenty of memorable stories during his career. There was one when he reminded an undisclosed player that he was making money thanks to him, but that didn’t affect his rival.

During his Hall of Fame speech, Iverson talked about this one time when he asked somebody to stop chasing him around the court, or things would get physical. The Philadelphia 76ers star received a big comeback when he tried to bring his opponent down.

“Somebody was there at the free-throw line and I said, ‘look, man, if you don’t stop following me like that, we’re going to fight out here,’ and he was like ‘whatever.’ And I said, ‘the only reason you got that little $5 million is for running around after me. And the man looked at me and said, ‘thank you,'” AI said while the crowd laughed.

It’s unknown what player he was talking about, but plenty of fans are convinced he was referring to Tyronn Lue. They starred in one of the coldest moments in the NBA Finals when AI hit a 3 and stepped over Lue in 2001.

That’s one of the most iconic pics in NBA history. The guard did everything he could to take his Sixers to the Finals that year, but they couldn’t do much against the Lakers of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
