The Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese rivalry has been one of the biggest talking points in the basketball world, and the racial angle has been a big part of it. Comedian Aries Spears wants that to stop, and he took to Instagram to send a message to the Black community about the two players.

“I wanna address this whole Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese thing,” Spears said. “Black people? I love you, but for the love of God, knock it the f**k off. Stop making this about race. ‘Oh, it be your own people. Respect the Black Queen. Why are you going after the sister?’ Hey, this is not about race.

“Let’s play the race card and save it for when we really need it,” Spears continued. “Otherwise, this is a waste of race. This ain’t about race, this is about ball, who’s good, and who’s not. That’s it. So miss me with that Black Power bulls***, alright?

“It’s about one is good, and the other one is hot garbage,” Spears added. “Caitlin Clark is bananas. Angel Reese is garbage. Maybe if she cared more about putting more time in the gym instead of being a runway model and be cute, we wouldn’t have this conversation.”

Reese isn’t as good a player as Clark, but calling her hot garbage was a bit much. Spears got some pushback for his take, but he isn’t backing down.

“So let me get this straight you guys make this about race instead of delusion you guys say support the black queen simply because she’s black even though it’s clear she’s arrogant and delusional. I think some of “US” are delusional. Even with evidence we stay on that dumb [s***].”

The Clark-Reese rivalry began back in 2023 during the national title game between LSU and Iowa. Reese and LSU emerged victorious that night, and she taunted Clark at the end of the game.

Clark would win the rematch in the Elite Eight the following year, but lost in the national title game again. Following that season, she and Reese would head to the WNBA together.

The Indiana Fever would select Clark with the first pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft, while Reese went seventh to the Chicago Sky. To no one’s surprise, there would be controversy in the very first game they played against each other.

Reese appeared to applaud her then-teammate Chennedy Carter for taking a cheap shot at Clark during the game. It wasn’t a good look, to say the least, and she was heavily criticized for the act. Then, in the first meeting in their sophomore season, tempers flared. Clark’s hard foul on Reese left the latter enraged, but the former had no interest in throwing hands.

The Fever would end up winning 93-58 on that night. That blowout loss was a sign of things to come for the Sky. They have gotten off to a 0-3 start to this 2025 season and look set to miss the playoffs yet again.

Reese, who was an All-Star as a rookie, has had a rough start to the campaign. She’s averaging 9.0 points, 13.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 30.3% from the field.

As for Clark, she has put up 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 9.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. She has helped the Fever get off to a 2-2 start, and they are hoping to make the playoffs for the second straight season.
