Bill Russell is without a doubt, one of the greatest NBA players of all time. Russell is the most successful NBA player of all time, with 11 championships, including 8 championships that he won in a row with the Boston Celtics.

On top of that, he was a 5 time NBA MVP, 12 time NBA All-Star, and even a successful head coach after retiring from the Celtics.

Russell was a magnificent player during his era and amassed more success than any other player in NBA history. His impact on the game is unprecedented, and the world has come to recognize his dominance more since he walked away.

So much so, that in 2009, the NBA renamed the NBA Finals MVP trophy to the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP trophy to recognize the unprecedented success he had in the NBA Finals.

Russell is also a beloved figure among NBA fans, with almost every fan holding him in extremely high regard because of his success. And now, one fan will have the opportunity to live in his former house. And if they do, Russell has left a special present for them.

Bill Russell revealed that he is selling his former home in Mercer Island. And for the person who buys the house next, a special gift awaits. Russell has left behind his trophy cabinet and a basketball signed by him, with the hope that the new owner enjoys the house as much as he does.

“I have left behind my trophy case and an autographed ball for the next owner, and I hope they enjoy the home as much as I have over the last almost 50 years.”

Russell continues to be a key figure in the NBA today, as he is invited to every NBA Finals to present his namesake trophy to the best player on the championship team. Every NBA player strives to find the success that Russell did throughout his career.

And while it is unlikely that we will ever see a period of dominance like Russell’s, it is still a great ambition for any young player to have when entering the NBA.
