Rajon Rondo has found a new home in the NBA, as the Los Angeles Lakers are sending the veteran point guard to the Eastern Conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers got to work quickly after Ricky Rubio went down with a season-ending injury earlier this week.

The Cavs were linked with a blockbuster move for Ben Simmons before other candidates showed up for the 2016 NBA champions. Rajon Rondo was one of them, with reports suggesting the Cavaliers and Lakers were working to get a deal done for the two-time NBA champion.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Rondo is heading to Cleveland to join an exciting young team that ranks 5th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Before Rubio went down, Collin Sexton had suffered another severe injury, hurting the Cavs. However, the former All-Star point guard is ready to help this team keep their level and recover break through the top 4 of the East, where the Nets, Bucks, Heat and Bulls are fighting for the No. 1 seed in the conference.

Adding Rondo to the roster will be huge for the Cavaliers. They lost a big piece in Rubio and now need another veteran to lead a young group set to do big things this 2021/22 NBA season.
