Charles Barkley Reveals How Moses Malone Helped And Motivated Him: "You're Fat And You're Lazy, You Weigh 300 Pounds..."

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley is one of the greatest players in NBA history. He was a menace to defend against and easily destroyed opposing teams on a nightly basis. In his phenomenal career, the only tarnish on his legacy is failing to win an NBA championship.

Apart from that, Barkley achieved a lot in his career. Of course, the credit goes to him for his sheer hard work. But it wouldn't have been possible if Barkley had never received a great piece of advice from another 76ers legend, Moses Malone.

Charles revealed this story on "The Mike Missanelli Show."

"I asked Moses, 'Can I come to your condo tonight?' So, I go up there and I said, mostly, ‘why am I not getting a plate?’ And he said, ‘hey, you’re fat and you’re lazy.’ And it was the greatest conversation and the worst conversation mixed in because it was hard for me to hear that."

Barkley continued further, "He said, ‘hey, you weigh 300 pounds’. Here’s a guy who’s one of the greatest ever took me on this wing. He said, ‘let’s lose 10 pounds,’ I get to 290. Once I got to 250, I was just kicking a**.”

Moses Malone was a truly phenomenal player. He had three regular season MVPs to his name, coupled with a ring and an NBA Finals MVP. So, when a player of that caliber speaks, you listen.

Chuck followed Malone's advice and had a career-changing transition. He looked in better shape and that made it quite difficult for opponents to contain him.

Barkley was part of the star-studded 1984 NBA draft class. Moreover, joining the Philadelphia 76ers, he had a lot of help earlier in his career.

Despite that, he failed to win a ring with the 76ers. His chase for an NBA championship continued for the rest of his career and it never got fulfilled.

Since retiring from the league, Charles is now seen giving his opinions about the current NBA occurring in the NBA on TNT. Most recently, he talked about what the 76ers need to do about the ugly situation of Ben Simmons.
