Kemba Walker is a former All-Star, someone that had an argument to be considered a Top 5 point guard in the league for a long time. Walker wasn’t able to achieve much success in the postseason in his career, but a majority of those years were spent with the Charlotte Hornets, he is one of the best players to have played for the franchise.

Walker is still only 32, but injuries have robbed him of a lot of his best abilities, and it’s hard to tell if he can get back to playing at a high level. He managed to play in 37 games for the New York Knicks last season and averaged just over 11 points, looking like he’s no longer capable of producing the performances he once could.

Despite this, it would seem that the Hornets are interested in bringing Walker back to the franchise, considering that they need some solid backup guard minutes moving forward. Shams Charania reported as much for The Athletic

“The Hornets are considering a reunion with former franchise cornerstone Kemba Walker among other point guard options, sources told The Athletic.”

“Charlotte has a potential need for another reserve point guard and is expected to be patient in its roster moves as the team monitors the legal process of restricted free agent Miles Bridges, who faces felony charges for domestic violence and child abuse.”

The Miles Bridges situation with the court cases against him has thrown a spanner into the works for the Hornets, as they cannot be sure of how they will progress if he is to be convicted of the things he has been accused of. At a time of turmoil like this, bringing a fan favorite and veteran leader like Kemba back to the roster may just help them stabilize things moving forward.
