Dennis Rodman is one of the most iconic players in NBA history. While his numbers were never historic, Rodman was extremely influential during his time in the league. Rodman was part of two historic dynasties in the NBA; the Pistons of the 80s and the Bulls of the 90s.
Rodman was a cornerstone for both those franchises during his time there. Throughout his career, Rodman became a Defensive Player Of The Year, an All-Star, and a 5-time NBA Champion.
Rodman was never a force on offense. His specialty was his defense. Rodman is often considered one of the greatest defenders in NBA history because of the work he did on that end of the court during his time. In fact, Richard Jefferson has called Rodman maybe the greatest defensive power forward in history.
Rodman was trusted with marshaling the rest of the team’s defense, being the leader of the team on that end of the court. Despite his lack of offensive output, one would expect Rodman to get some points during the game.

Dennis Rodman once went on a 2-game stretch in the NBA during 1993 where he put up ridiculous numbers that still stand out to this day. During that 2-game stretch, when he was with the San Antonio Spurs, Rodman scored 0 points and had 49 rebounds.
Rodman was close to averaging 25 rebounds between those two games. But what’s even more fascinating is that Rodman did not score even once during either of those games. His stats over these two games are a great example of what Rodman brought to the teams that he was on.
Dennis Rodman was never relied upon by his teams to handle the offensive workload that other players did because that wasn’t his game at all.
So despite the lack of contribution on the offensive end, numbers like these show exactly why Rodman was so crucial to the teams that he played for.
