Devin Booker and Chris Paul have developed an incredible partnership in Phoenix, leading the Suns to the NBA Finals last season. They’re seemingly on their way again this season, just one more win away from moving past the Dallas Mavericks in Round 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals. And while Games 3 and 4 were pretty bad for the Suns, the Game 5 blowout put a smile on the faces of their two stars again.

Booker and Paul were in decent spirits during the post-game interview. Booker was on fire all game. There was one question from a reporter that caused a hilarious moment between the two, however. While talking about Booker’s career playoff stats, a reporter mentioned that Booker struggled to make the playoffs early in his career, setting off a brilliant exchange between Book and CP3.

Reporter: “Book, bit of a random question, you’re one of 18 NBA players ever to have 800 career points or more in his first 30 playoff games. I know you got a late start in your career, obviously, in the postseason…”

Chris Paul: *laughs softly*

Devin Booker: “What?”

Chris Paul: “I’m saying, why he gotta bring that up?”

Devin Booker: “Yeah but why was that funny?”

Chris Paul: “Nah, cuz why he bring that up?”

Devin Booker: “Why was it funny?”

Chris Paul: *continues to laugh*

This is some classic banter. Booker being a lone star on some terrible Phoenix teams was obviously not his fault, but to a perennial winner like Chris Paul, it’s obviously something he has rarely experienced. While it was all in good humor and both of them were laughing throughout, there’s no doubt that his early failures helped make Devin Booker the player that he is today and will be even sweeter to look back on if he can actually secure a championship.
