Donovan Mitchell was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer. There’s no doubt that this is a good trade for both him and the franchise. Mitchell will enter a squad that is ready to contend, while the Cavaliers will have a true difference-maker on the squad.

When he was traded to the Cavaliers, it was reported that Donovan Mitchell was excited to play with Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland. He reportedly “went screaming around the golf course” in reaction to the news.

“It’s a great fit for Donovan Mitchell,” Windhorst said. “And I’m gonna tell you, I can’t tell you how I know, but I’m aware of when he found out. And I’m aware of when he actually found out about what was in the trade. And when he found out — he was on a golf course — and when he found out that Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and Darius Garland were not in the trade, and neither was Kevin Love, he went screaming around the golf course, he was so excited. He’s extremely excited in this moment. I’m sure he would love to have been a [New York] Knick, that’s his hometown. But he’s extremely excited in the moment.”

It is clear that Donovan Mitchell will be in a good situation. The Utah Jazz helped him get to a competitive team by trading him, and it’ll be interesting to see how he meshes with the other players on the roster.

Donovan Mitchell Was Sure He Was Going To Be A Knick

Even though he was clearly happy to go to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell seemed to think that he would be a member of the New York Knicks. In his recent press conference, Mitchell claimed that he thought “for sure” that he would be “going home” to the New York Knicks.

“I thought it was New York, I’m not gonna lie to y’all … I’m truly excited to be here.”

For me once Rudy got traded, I kind of saw the writing on the wall… I had a feeling that I was going to get moved.

I thought it was New York, I’m not going to lie to y’all… Like I said, for me once I found out I’m going to be traded… what we’re going into, that trumped everything for me.

It is clear that Donovan Mitchell is still happy even though he didn’t end up getting moved to the New York Knicks. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a place where he can truly compete for a championship, and hopefully, he manages to win a ring during his tenure.

The Cleveland Cavaliers should be contenders next season as they have three All-Star level players on their roster. Donovan Mitchell should take them over the top, and it would be no surprise to see them make the Finals despite a stacked Eastern Conference.
