Draymond Green On Zach LaVine: "You're A F*cking All-Star... You Are The Face Of A Franchise, Bro."

Zach LaVine

Zach LaVine has been the player that's been viewed as the current and future face of the Chicago Bulls. He is the latest hyper-athletic guard to be the Bulls' franchise player, with Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose coming to mind from past eras. While it is clear that LaVine isn't as accomplished as those other two guards, he is certainly a great player.

Draymond Green has recently spoken out about Zach LaVine to Marcus Thompson II and Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic, and claimed that the star guard is "extremely talented". Green also added that he's been trying to teach Zach LaVine about how good he is, and give him some help on how he can be the "face of a franchise" as LaVine has "never been on a team where anyone can really, truly teach him that".

“When you look at a guy as talented as Zach LaVine,” Green said, “the reality is nobody has taught him how to be Zach LaVine and not treated as this young kid who’s up and coming in the league who’s trying to figure it out. Like, no. You’re a fucking All-Star. You figured it out. You deserve respect. And most importantly, you have the respect of your peers. Embody that. Because if you don’t embody that, people can see through that and it will be used against you.

“He’s one of those guys,” Green continued, “that’s extremely talented, extremely confident, but doesn’t really know how good he truly is, what he brings to the table. So it’s just trying to teach him that. You are the face of a franchise, bro. How do you be that? He’s never been on a team where anyone can really, truly teach him that. Or else he would’ve been that.”

While some people doubted Zach LaVine's ability to be a No. 1 option, it's clear that the shooting guard simply needed some solid talent surrounding him to start winning. Draymond Green is right in saying that LaVine deserves his respect. The Bulls' front office has surrounded him with great players such as DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, and that has paid off immensely, as LaVine has led the Bulls to an 8-3 record to start the season.

It remains to be seen if the Chicago Bulls and Zach LaVine can keep up their performances for the whole season, but they certainly look like a dangerous team thus far. Hopefully, we see them return to the playoffs this season, and with Zach LaVine leading a talented roster, it's hard to see them miss the postseason once again.
