Kevin Durant is once again playing at the best possible level. The Brooklyn Nets superstar had a tumultuous offseason where his future with the team was on the line, but he ultimately decided to run it back with Steve Nash, Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons, and co.
Now, things are working just fine for them, as KD is leading the Nets to win big games under new head coach Jacque Vaughn, thriving and winning 17 of their last 19 matches in the NBA.
KD has gotten people so used to these great performances that they’ve become a regular thing around the NBA world, but one of his former teammates recently reminded everybody that Durant is really special, and we shouldn’t take any of that for granted.
Kevin Durant Is Playing At The Highest Level Right Now
During the most recent edition of his self-titled podcast, Draymond Green talked about KD and how great he’s been during his career. Besides showering LeBron James in praise once again, Draymond said that not so many thought KD would be this good, not because his level was decreasing but because he’s kept it every single season and people got used to that.

“Brooklyn Nets are sitting at the two seed, KD’s averaging 30, 7, and 5. Not quite sure anybody expected KD to be back at an MVP level. And not because Kevin Durant doesn’t always play at an MVP level, because quite frankly, we’ve seen this for years. Especially, we’ve seen this a lot with LeBron James,” Green said.
“When you’re that good, people start to not appreciate it. And so to think that KD can play again at the level to where people were appreciated enough, to even mention him in the MVP conversation, as supposed to just being like, ‘Oh, man. That’s just Kevin, and that’s what he does.'”
KD is one of the top candidates to win the MVP this season, and the Brooklyn Nets’ impressive run only helps his case. The 2x NBA champion is doing incredible things on the court again and the rest of the league is noticing that. Durant and the Nets can finally win the championship this season if they keep this good level.
After three seasons under Steve Nash, where they couldn’t get past the second round of the playoffs, they’re looking like serious championship candidates, and KD could win his second NBA MVP award if his team keeps this rhythm.
