The Golden State Warriors slumped to another loss since Stephen Curry’s injury, this time to the streaking New York Knicks, who picked up their 8th consecutive win against Golden State. This was GSW’s 15th road loss of the season, the most for any team in the league.

This team won a championship last season on the grounds of their depth being able to outmatch most of the NBA. However, Stephen Curry was the engine that made the machine work and without him, they have been floundering. Curry has had historic games in Madison Square Garden and could’ve really helped the Warriors avoid this 38-point defeat.

Fans were not enthused about the Warriors’ chances to repeat after the 94-132 loss.

The frustration is completely understandable. The Warriors’ problems may go deeper than just getting a big like Jakob Poeltl or Myles Turner to be the starting center and they need to find a solution over the month of Curry’s injury.

Can The Trade Market Save The Warriors?

The Warriors have never been the team that makes mid-season trades to try and tip the scales in their favor. They prefer controlling their draft picks and finding value out of late first-round selections like Jordan Poole instead of trading picks every year to acquire established role-players.

Their extremely young squad isn’t ready to compete, no matter the expectations the starting five have. If the Warriors want to develop this core, they have to elan into doing that and giving these players an opportunity.

Their inexperience means they’ll be inconsistent and poor performing, so it looks like trading some of them away to rebuilding teams for veterans may be the best path. The young players get their mistakes coached out by getting opportunities and learning while the Warriors get players that are willing to play their roles and contribute to a historic fifth title.
