The Golden State Warriors couldn’t match up to the Phoenix Suns’ bench in a rivalry matchup that saw the Suns rest Chris Paul, Cameron Payne, Landry Shamet, and Deandre Ayton, in addition to the long-term injuries of Devin Booker and Cam Johnson.

The Warriors were expected to win big, showing fight in recent games without Stephen Curry on the court. With Curry’s return, fans expected a dominant display by the Warriors. The Suns had a massive lead throughout most of the game, but the Warriors mustered a second-half comeback to get the score down to 125-113 in the loss. Fans were not happy with Golden State failing to close this one out.

The #Suns' 6-game losing streak is over, with a huge win vs. the #Warriors tonight 🙌

Bad homestand for Warriors. No way around it. 5-3 after 5-0 start. Under .500 when it began, under as it ends. Got Steph Curry back, Andrew Wiggins in game 2, had all of top 7 in rotation and lost 125-113 to Suns w/o 4 starters. GSW used a lot of energy to come back, to no avail.

Appreciation Tweet for Mikal Bridges.

The Suns needed him more tonight than they ever had before. He delivered (while clearly dealing with his own injuries). Put the dagger in the hearts of the Warriors in that 4Q. Major props.

Suns are overplaying everything deep on perimeter and switching everything — as is the league blueprint — and the Warriors are still content to keep passing on the perimeter in search of an open 3

The Suns have been one of the coldest teams in the league since Devin Booker was sidelined, but today showed great effort from them. The Warriors out-talented them later in the game, with Curry having an explosive fourth quarter, but the Suns did enough to hold on. Phoenix arrested a 6-game losing streak with this win.

Should The Golden State Warriors Be Worried?

The team showed their class in the fourth quarter and almost stole the game, but constant fouls led the Suns to close the game out on the free throw line. This was Golden State’s third home loss in a row, a shocking fact given the Chase Center has been a very strong venue for them this season. They are now 17-5 at home.

Curry needed a game or two to get acclimated to the NBA pace after his time away, and this game should have given that to him. He got into his rhythm late in the game and almost pulled the comeback off, but they were in too deep of a hole to make it out. Their inconsistencies have been showing all season long and it might make their battle to stay in the top 6 of the West a real challenge.

The team will be expected to make some moves this trade deadline, with the need for a more reliable big and possibly a backup wing.
