After what must have felt like a never-ending season for the City of Angels, the Los Angeles Lakers wrapped up their season with a rare win over the Denver Nuggets. With nothing to play for in their final games, having been knocked out of playoff contention, the Lakers played freely, and their big stars got the opportunity to begin their resting period early. There are a lot of changes expected in the offseason.

One of the most significant changes fans of the Lakers are hoping to see is a change in coaching. Frank Vogel, who coached the Lakers to an NBA championship 18 months ago, is expected to be fired soon. Adrian Wojnarowski even reported that Vogel had coached his last game just moments after the final buzzer sounded in Denver. But Vogel hasn’t heard anything, as he told the reporters after the game.

Frank Vogel on reports about him being fired: “My reaction is I haven’t been told sh*t!”

Vogel was clearly frustrated with the question surrounding his future. But perhaps, Vogel was also unhappy with the timing of the report from Wojnarowski, as Vogel had barely gotten the chance to meet with the team after they finished their final game of a long and difficult season. It is understandable that Vogel would have wanted his job status and his future to be private and under wraps.

Going forward, there is still no clear-cut choice for the Lakers on the coaching front. Names like Doc Rivers and Quinn Snyder have been mentioned, but both coaches are currently focused on getting their respective teams as far as possible in the playoffs. The Lakers will be hoping that both coaches do well so that they can be sure of the investment they are making with whichever coach they decide to hire.
