Ja Morant is one of the most electrifying point guards in the NBA today. The 2021-22 Most Improved Players led his Grizzlies to one of the best records in the NBA. However, after a slow start in their series against Minnesota, many started counting out the team, and murmurs of them losing in the first round started to occur.

However, Morant put all of that noise to rest in Game 5. After a game where the Timberwolves controlled stretches of it, Morant willed his team back into it and scored 30 points with 13 rebounds, 9 assists, and 3 steals.

Out of the 30 points that Morant scored, two mattered the most. Those came through a game-winning layup with 1 second left on the clock that helped Memphis avoid overtime and walk out with a 3-2 series lead. Morant was feeling himself after the game, as evidenced by his celebration.

Considering the series is going back to Minnesota, Game 6 may just be one of the most heated games of the series. We have already seen KAT talk about how Memphis was ‘in Minnesota now‘ when they blew two 20-point leads in Game 3. While Minny did win Game 4, they have to ensure they stretch the series to 7 and win the next game on their home court.

Considering how hard-nosed this Memphis team is, they won’t be scared to go back to Minnesota. In fact, they may relish the chance to eliminate the T’Wolves in front of their home crowd and will be pushing to ensure that happens. If it doesn’t, the Wolves anyway need to come back to Memphis.

We know Morant and the Grizzlies won’t duck the smoke and their fight up until the last second of Game 5 is proof of that. The only question that remains is whether they can close this series out or is Minnesota getting ready for a comeback?
