Jayson Tatum is proving that he might just emerge to win his first MVP this season, as Tatum has been on fire on the best team in the NBA. However, recent struggles for Tatum has kept the MVP race incredibly exciting, with over 6 players with a realistic chance of winning it.

4 of those 6 players are frontcourt players in the East, with Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Kevin Durant also in the mix. This also means only 3 out of these 4 players can be starters in the All-Star team, something Tatum was asked about on Inside the NBA.

“You put me in a tough spot. I don’t even know if I can answer that question. All 4 guys averaging 30 and playing on winning teams and being on top. It’s tough that only 3 of us can start and one of us is going to be left out.

Jayson Tatum is currently in third place in the fan voting, holding a slim lead over Joel Embiid. Kevin Durant is likely going to be the captain as the leading vote-getter in the East, and Giannis is second with a bit of distance from Embiid and Tatum.

Who Deserves The Final Starting Spot More?

Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum will have to fight it out over the last spot, so it is going to be interesting to see how that plays out. With the fan vote being 50% of the decider, it is likely that the winner of the fan vote will take the spot. Embiid led in the first results, but Tatum has secured it back.

Richard Jefferson has said he expects Tatum to miss out, while Stephen A. Smith said Kevin Durant will be missing out in favor of Tatum due to KD’s injury.

Tatum had a rough night in a Boston win tonight, while Embiid excelled in a shock 76ers loss. This is going to be unfair to one of the players, as they’re all playing at an MVP level.
