Karl-Anthony Towns Says He’s ‘Desensitized To Being Disrespected’

Among the list of All-Star snubs this season is Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, who is averaging 27 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 51% shooting.

Despite the numbers, Towns was not named as an All-Star this season after two straight appearances in the game.

One would expect Towns to express his anger at the situation, but he’s apparently already desensitized to being “disrespected.”

“I’m worried about our team, about getting W’s,” Towns said. “I’m desensitized to being disrespected in this league. I’ve been disrespected since I came in. It’s nothing new when I didn’t see my name up there. When you’re a person who’s been disrespected like me so much, it’s something you expect honestly. You’re kind of shocked when you do get it.”

There’s no arguing that Towns’ value to the Timberwolves this season. He’s their best player, by far, and his averages this season are probably the best for all bigs in the game.

But his absence from the All-Star list may have more to do with the 17 games he has missed and Minnesota’s 15-33 record in the West than it does about being ignored or glossed over. Towns has had a great individual season, but his team has been abysmal.

With so many other names worthy of consideration, the circumstances just weren’t good enough for him to earn All-Star honors this year.

There’s always next year, though.
