Kawhi Leonard On Clippers’ Locker Room After Losing 6 Consecutive Games

The Los Angeles Clippers have been one of the NBA’s biggest storylines for years now but it seems the headlines have once again turned sour. After forming a superstar duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in 2019, the Clippers were expected to be immediate championship contenders. However, the team is yet to have any real success in this era.

While they made their first-ever Conference Finals appearance in 2021, the team has the salary of a championship-contending team. Right now, they are 20-21 and are barely holding onto a playoff spot after losing their 6th consecutive game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Kawhi Leonard, who has been healthy and available for this stretch, commented on the spirit within the Clippers’ locker room.

Kawhi on locker room: "I think it's still good. Guys are still being positive. This is the spot where you see if you really enjoy the game and if we're a team. Like I said, we got to dig out this hole. It's fun, it's a good challenge for us."

While it is a good challenge for them to dig out of this hole, it isn’t a challenge they should have to face. The Western Conference is extremely packed and every loss could impact the Clips’ playoff seeding in May.

Is It Time For A Change?

The LA Clippers have trusted a roster constructed with multiple frontcourt 2-way specialists that can be a tough matchup for every team. However, this has come at the expense of actually having creators on the roster. The point guard rotation of John Wall and Reggie Jackson just isn’t good enough for the Clippers to compete in the West.

They still have a chance at making a push for the title, especially if they make trades that can cut down the wing clutter for another big alongside Ivica Zubac and better point guard play. Until then, the Clippers will have to rely on the inconsistently available Leonard and Paul George.
