Kendrick Perkins didn’t take too kindly Blake Griffin’s comments on his favorite dunk. The newly-acquired Brooklyn Nets player was very famous for his vicious dunks and he collected plenty of victims over the years.
Griffin made dunking an art and he never hesitated to show his talents at it. He starred in some great posters over the years but one of the most famous came when he jumped over Perkins to make a really good play.
Nobody has forgotten that play and neither did Blake. The veteran recently joined an AMA session with Bleacher Report, revealing that was his favorite dunk ever.
“The one on Kendrick Perkins. He was such a defensive minded player and he always had the scowl on his face so that makes it a little bit sweeter,” the new Nets player said.
Perkins reacted to this on Twitter, admitting that that dunk won’t be forgotten in the near future but Blake won’t be a major upgrade for the Nets or anything they need at this point in the season. It seems like he was a little salty and came up with this take, which didn’t sit well with fans.
The Blake Griffin that put me on a poster ain’t walking through the door no time soon. The guy coming to Brooklyn does not move the needle for what the Nets need! Looks good in paper tho, carry on… https://t.co/tpKyIgcHtX

@KendrickPerkins – I said the exact thing!! Blake Griffin is a good name and may make casual Nets fans happy but this Blake Griffin today is Noah Vonleh with a better shot

That Blake isn’t as good as he is now though….. He’s a better basketball player now, less athletic….

Perk you know Blake can play.. his stats are terrible cause he clearly hated being there. I seen him go off against a few teams this year when he wants to.

He’s not a better player than Jeff Green right now. While Durant is out, this is fine. But Green, Joe Harris and Bruce Brown need their minutes

The Nets return to action on Thursday against the Boston Celtics, trying to pick things right where they left them before the All-Star break. They’re currently 2nd in the Eastern Conference and the addition of Griffin is a big one for Steve Nash and co.
Regardless of what Perkins says, fans have big expectations for Blake on the Nets. They have worked things out with their Big 3 and everybody expects them to continue that way with the 6x NBA All-Star.
