Baron Davis recently made a bold revelation about controversial owner Dan Gilbert, who is still ruling the Cleveland Cavaliers. Gilbert has always been the subject of polemic and there are details about him that plenty of fans don’t know.
That happened again when Davis revealed that Gilbert threatened to not let him out of Cleveland if he intended to join LeBron James in Miami. James left the Cavaliers in the summer of 2010 amid a lot of controversy for the way he handled his decision and the fact that he joined Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in South Beach.
As you may know now, Gilbert didn’t like that and he even shared a public letter criticizing LeBron. That wasn’t the end of it, apparently, as Davis said he tried to ruin James’ plans to win a title with every chance he had, even preventing the guard from leaving the team if he planned to go to Miami, too.
“He said if I went to play with LeBron he would win a title. I told him LeBron gonna win one anyway,” Davis wrote on Twitter.
I remember Dan Gilbert sent a message to me he wouldn’t let me out my deal if I went to play with LEBRON!!! Facts. He knew that where I was going so they played hardball… he said if I went to play with LEBRON he would win a title. I told him LEBRON gonna win one anyway. 🤦🏾♂️

In the end, he was right. Bron won his first NBA championship in 2012 alongside Wade and Bosh, beating a young and talented Oklahoma City Thunder team. Right now he’s a four-time NBA champion, even winning one with the Cavaliers in one of the most memorable Finals in league history.
As for Davis, he left the Cavs but joined the New York Knicks, where he competed against LeBron and not with him.
