Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving decided to team up in Brooklyn ahead of the memorable 2019 NBA free agency. The two polarizing stars wanted to join forces and the Nets presented the best opportunity for them.

Even though KD missed Kyrie’s first season with the Nets due to an injury, and the point guard also dealt with injuries, the Nets couldn’t find success as soon as they would have wanted. Still, they had big expectations for KD’s return to the court, and things looked incredible for them last season until the eventual champions Milwaukee Bucks stopped them in the second round of the postseason.

Last night, the Boston Celtics put an end to the tumultuous season the Brooklynites had. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart and co. were too much to bear for Steve Nash’s squad. They couldn’t win a single game, finishing their season with a sweep in the first round of the playoff.

After the game and the series were over, everybody had something to say about the Nets, with many fans destroying them for underperforming all season long, while others came up with stats that show how badly the Nets have missed their expectations.

Twitter personality Rob Perez mentioned the days that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving have been in Brooklyn and how many playoffs series they have won together. In over 1000 days, they’ve only won one series, which happened against the Boston Celtics last season.

The Nets have huge expectations and demands since they landed both Irving and Durant. Adding James Harden and then exchanging him for Ben Simmons placed them in a privileged position to win the championship. Neither player made a big impact on the team and ended up getting a lot of criticism for their actions.

KD and Ky need to step up if they still aspire to win a championship in Brooklyn. This team has the chance to create a competitive squad in the offseason and run it back next season. These two are controversial and many people will try to bring them down whenever they have the chance. It’s time to show that they can win it all without their prior teammates and prove doubters wrong.
