Kevin Durant has been a constant in the headlines for a week now. Ever since the forward requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA community has been in a frenzy. Be it media outlets or fans, everyone has had their say on the decision.
While KD has been with the Nets for the last three years, he hasn’t had much success in the postseason. They might have had some of the most talented players in Kyrie Irving and James Harden at one point, but circumstances somehow never favored Durant. Be it injury woes or off-the-court issues, what was supposed to be paradise turned out to be a rollercoaster ride for KD.
While some fans have been supportive of the 2014 MVP’s demand for a trade, many fans have been very critical of Durant requesting a trade accusing him of quitting his team.
This was visible in the latest Twitter interaction that Durant took part in. While one fan claimed that KD wanted to go to a better place, another fan claimed that the 11-time All-Star was quitting on the Nets and should not be counted at the same level as LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Giannis Antetokounmpo. The comment certainly didn’t bode well with Durant.

I think they are just protecting their favorite players, people say I’m better and they disagree. I get it..

It’s not hoops anymore, it’s a personality contest. Hoops too boring, they need more lol

Contradictory to what fans might think about Kevin Durant, one thing was certain in his time with the Nets, he was perhaps the only star who tried to make it work despite the circumstances around him. Be it Irving missing games or Harden demanding a trade; it was Durant who often stepped up to the plate for the Nets.
Even in the playoffs, it was KD who took the onus upon himself and tried to lead his team and keep his squad at bay. If anyone deserves a better situation right now, it is Durant.
While some might clown him for his move, claiming that he is not at the level of Giannis, LeBron, and Curry as one of the best in the game is downright abysmal. What do you think of the trade request made by Durant?
