Zion Williamson is one of the most promising young stars in the game today. He put up 27.0 PPG and 7.2 RPG during the 2020-21 regular season, and there’s no question that he is a supreme talent that can influence the outcome of any given game.

There have been some concerns about Zion Williamson though, mostly regarding his durability and conditioning. Zion Williamson reportedly reached 300 pounds this offseason, after having a foot fracture. Many fans have already sounded the alarm over the star’s supposed weight gain.

Some among NBA circles are also of the opinion that Zion Williamson needs to shed some weight to become the best version of himself. During the recent Knicks-Pelicans game, Knicks legend Clyde Frazier stated that Zion Williamson needs “to get that weight down”.

Zion folks, you can see he’s put on some pounds. Man, he’s got to get that weight off. Mike said he’s only 21 years of age and already having to work on the weight.

Every player performs better when they are in peak shape, and the same will be true for Zion Williamson. While his injury may have prevented him from doing any conditioning, the New Orleans Pelicans will hope that he gets in shape soon so that he and Brandon Ingram can lead the Pelicans to better performances than the ones they had on their 1-6 start. Zion Williamson’s scoring and rebounding will be key for the team, and it’s obvious that they miss their superstar.

When Zion Williamson is healthy, few players can guard him. His physical attributes allow him to finish at an elite level around the rim, and he is simply a force of nature when he’s got it going. It remains to be seen how soon Zion Williamson will come back, but Pelicans’ fans would prefer it to be sooner rather than later.
