After just 40 days of retirement, NFL quarterback Tom Brady announced his return to football on Sunday, setting up his 23rd season in the league.

While many expected Brady to make a comeback at some point, not a lot of people expected the announcement so soon. Nevertheless, the football legend changed everything with a single Tweet.

Many fans across the country celebrated Brady’s unretirement. Among them was LeBron James, who took to Instagram before tipoff against Phoenix.

It’s no secret that James is a big fan of the Tampa Bay QB, and it’s clear to see why. Like James, Brady is one of the best in the world at what he does. And, like James, he has become a widely respected and beloved modern-day athlete.

When Brady retired, James was one of the first to congratulate him.

“Hell of a ride my friend!! Congrats on a heck of a career!! Thank you for the memories and inspiration throughout, [GOAT]. TB12 loved by [king].”

What Brady has been able to do over the last few years has been nothing short of extraordinary. Despite his age and the enormous amount of wear and tear on his body, he has been able to stay elite and keep his place as one of the best performers in the sport. In 2021, he became the oldest quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl (41).

James, who turned 37 in December, probably hopes to follow a similar path. So far, he’s on the right track and proving to still be dominant in his late 30s.

He’s still got a few more years before he catches Brady, but if anyone can do it, it’s James.
