As one of the NBA’s All-Time greatest players, LeBron James holds many records across various categories in the NBA. Out of them all, however, none may be greater than the one he’s about to break.

With just 63 points to go, James is about to become the NBA’s All-Time leading scorer and will likely surpass the record by many points as he continues his career over the next few years.

We can all agree that the scorning record will rank among LeBron’s greatest achievements and even James himself said the NBA’s scoring record is one of the best in the entire sports world.

“I think it’s one of the greatest records in sports in general. I think it’s up there with the home run record in baseball. It’s just one of those records that you just don’t ever see or think that will be broken. You had Hank Aaron that had it for so long and then you see the likes of like Sammy [Sosa] and Mark McGwire and those guys start climbing and it was like ‘oh man, this thing could really happen.’ And you start really watching it and paying attention to it and you seeing Sammy and Mark McGwire go up to bat and you’re like they got a chance to knock it out every single time. And it was fun for me as a sports person, it was fun just watching those guys go up to bat and chase it,” James said. “I grew up being a historian of all sports and understanding that, I don’t have the number planted in my head, the actual real number. I know it’s 38-something, but I know it’s been Kareem my whole life. So it’s pretty cool, it’s pretty cool.”

Kareem’s point total was once thought to be insurmountable, especially given how effective he was late into his career. LeBron, of course, has defied all expectations by somehow maintaining excellence for two straight decades.

Will LeBron Retire As The G.O.A.T.?

When James finally passes Kareem this month, it could be the final piece he needs he solidify his case as the greatest player ever, even over Michael Jordan. While some will inevitably resist calling James the GOAT, that title will be much harder to deny when he sits atop the All-Time scoring list.

If not, he still has years left of good play to convince the remaining doubters and skeptics that he’s the best we’ve ever seen.
