Luka Doncic Has More All-NBA First Team Selections At 23 Than Tracy McGrady, Dwyane Wade, And Russell Westbrook Have In Their Entire Careers

Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the NBA despite also being one of the youngest. Doncic has been in the league for 4 seasons now, but seeing as he got drafted when he was 19 is somehow still only 23. His first 4 seasons have been nothing short of historic. Doncic has made the All-Star Game 3 times while also being selected to the All-NBA First Team thrice.

Having carried the Mavericks to the Western Conference Finals without having another All-Star on his team, Doncic is still improving his game season after season. And while Luka will likely achieve a whole lot more before he even comes close to retiring, some of his accolades have already eclipsed a few of the best players the NBA has seen.

An NBA fan on Reddit, BayonettaBasher, pointed out that Doncic’s 3 selections to the All-NBA First Team are already more than some of the most electric players in history. Russell Westbrook, Dwyane Wade, Tracy McGrady, even John Stockton, Patrick Ewing, and Pistol Pete Maravich only made it to the All-NBA First Team on just 2 occasions.

And at three, he is tied with some even greater names that he could surpass as early as next season. Bill Russell, Allen Iverson, Steve Nash, and Scottie Pippen. None of these players managed to make it more than three times during their careers. Doncic is truly in rarified air when it comes to the trajectory he currently finds himself on.

Doncic averages 26 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8 assists per game for his NBA career so far, and his averages have only gone significantly higher when it has mattered the most in the playoffs. He is only second to Michael Jordan in that regard, and if the Dallas Mavericks can put some competitive rosters around him, his list of achievements will surely be much greater by the time Luka is ready to call it quits.
