Yeah, so I’m like, ‘Dirk, do we wanna get this?’ He’s like, ‘F**k yeah, we wanna get this.’ I go to the waitress all right we’ll take one. 10 minutes, 15 minutes go by, Dirk’s like, ‘Where’s the champagne?’ All of a sudden the lady comes up, ‘Mr. Cuban, your card was declined.’ I’m like what the f**k? And I’m like let me call American Express and I’m drunk as s**t. Let me call American Express and they’re like, ‘How do we know this is Mark Cuban? How do we know this is real? I’m like, ‘Did you watch the game tonight? Let me just tell you just turn on the TV and see what’s going on because we’re in Miami right.’ And so finally they approved it, got my bottle and we were good.”
At the time, it must have been embarrassing for Cuban to get approval to purchase a champagne bottle during the celebration. But at the end of the day, his party wasn’t ruined because they still ended up getting the $140,000 champagne bottle, albeit with a slight delay.
