Mychal Thompson Urges The Warriors To Not Break Up Their Dynasties Like The Bulls And The Lakers Did In The Past: "Don't Break It Up Too Soon... They Can Win Several More Rings."

Over the years, the NBA has seen some pretty amazing dynasties being put together. The Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls, The Big 3 of the Miami Heat, or the Golden State Warriors when Kevin Durant decided to join them.

But what each of these teams had in common was the fact that after winning a few rings, they were broken up. The reason could be anything from poor management decisions to the amount of hate they got from fans becoming unbearable.

Right now, the current GSW dynasty is a team that has so far avoided these bumps. Of course, they let KD go, but they are back on their feet now. Moreover, they proved their worth in the 2021-22 NBA season by winning it all. Keeping in mind the team is full of talent, be it veterans or younger players, one might wonder for how long the Warriors can continue?

More importantly, how many more rings can they win? Well, Klay Thompson's dad, Mychal Thompson, decided to answer this question in a recent interview. He also gave some valuable advice to the owners and general manager of the team.

"Joe Lacob, Peter Guber, Bob Myers – they have to learn a lesson from the Chicago Bulls, Kobe, and Shaq’s Lakers and the fact that KD left. Don’t break it up too soon. The Bulls broke theirs up too soon. They could have won another couple. For some reason, they got tired of winning championships, winning rings. Explain that to me. Shaq and Kobe had something special. Even they’ve admitted that they shouldn’t have left each other, Shaq said they had more rings to win. KD left to go win somewhere else. He should have stayed. As Klay, Steph, and Dray get older, they get youngsters coming up behind them who can take a lot of the slack. That way they can preserve, Steph, Klay, and Draymond’s minutes and let them play late into their 30s and still be All-Star caliber players.”

Thompson also revealed that he believes if this dynasty stays intact, the Warriors have a chance at winning two or three more NBA Championships before their current core retires.

Additionally, when their current superstars retire, the Warriors already have the next crop of talent ready. All things considered, the Dubs can't be in any better situation than they are right now. Now, it's up to them to use this chance carefully and win more NBA titles.
