Don’t look now, but the Memphis Grizzlies are on a six-game win streak and tied for first place in the Western Conference. Most impressively is that they’ve done it mostly without their starting shooting guard and perimeter sharpshooter, Desmond Bane.

Fortunately, they’ve had veteran big man Steven Adams to help weather the storm and keep the Grizz afloat as Bane works his way back.

While Adams is not close to being a star in this league, he does what he needs to do for the Grizzlies and even offers some key advice to some of the younger players.

Appearing on Danny Green’s podcast ‘Inside the Green Room,” Adams actually revealed some of the advice he often dishes out — and it may surprise you.

“I share my story with some of the Memphis dudes here. If they are curious they ask and I provide them with some sort of story. The biggest thing I try to teach them is what Nick Collison told me, which is super valuable because I think too much. A simple quote bro, it goes ‘less brains – more c**k and balls.’”

Adams is a fan favorite in the NBA community simply because of his legendary accent and iconic quotes. The guy is a pretty funny character and seems to be an equally as valuable teammate.

For a Grizzlies team looking to make a run in the West, Adams will be an important part of their story this season and beyond.

Memphis Grizzlies Want Revenge After Playoff Elimination Last Year

Without Bane, it’s hard to gauge how good this Grizzlies team is, but they are expected to be scary when he makes his return to the lineup. After losing the Western Conference Semis last year, Ja Morant is ready to ensure his team goes even further this time around.

In fact, according to Ja, his team was the favorite to win that series last year before injuries derailed their potential.

“In my three years, I had an injury that took me away for a while, and obviously, late in the playoffs, that injury took me out of the series, and I felt like me personally and my teammates, we were the favorites in that series. It was pretty much our year but that injury caused me to be out,” he said. “And now you have to change lineups and you know guys playing without me. I feel like that’s the most frustrating part for me. You know, being out there and not being able to compete.”

Something special is going on in Memphis, and the whole league has taken notice. With Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, Jaren Jackson Jr., and (of course) Steven Adams, Memphis can compete with any team in the league.

But until they capture a championship, the whole team is going to keep playing like there’s a massive chip on their shoulders.
