The Boston Celtics have managed to defeat the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, with a final score of 120-108. While it looks as though the Celtics simply outplayed the Warriors in the game overall, it was a very close game until the Boston Celtics went on a 17-0 run to win their first Finals game.

There is no doubt that this is a surprise to many, as the Golden State Warriors were viewed as the favorite by many people. A lot of NBA fans reacted to this game, with many lauding the Boston Celtics for their performance in the win. Notably, Al Horford performed extremely well, putting up 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, while shooting 6-8 from 3PT range:

There is no doubt that winning one game doesn’t necessarily mean that the Boston Celtics will win the series. However, this is definitely a good start for the Boston Celtics, as they managed to steal a game on the road against a team that is usually dominant at home.

Hopefully, we see this series get interesting going forward, and it is quite likely that the Golden State Warriors will bounce back in Game 2. The Warriors will need more offensive production from the players around Stephen Curry to win the next game, and in particular, Jordan Poole will need to give them more from the bench. The series is definitely not over yet, even if a lot of people will have overreactions to the result of Game 1.
