3 Min Read

It is very early on, and yes, it’s just the Summer League, but still, Chet Holmgren put on an absolute show on his debut. There were some question marks surrounding the big man even though he was the 2nd pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, but if first impressions are anything to go by, then Thunder fans are in for a treat.

Holmgren put on a dominant display against the Jazz as he led all scorers with 23 points on 7-9 shooting and had 7 rebounds to go with 4 assists. He also set the Summer League record with 6 blocks, further adding that he was going to break that record again. Holmgren mesmerized the viewers with an array of moves as he showed just why he was so highly rated coming out of college, and fans were hyped after witnessing that display.

“He is the next KD”

“Remember when people, who never saw Chet play, comp’d him to Bol Bol and Shawn Bradley? Glad he’s balling out, and yes, I know – it’s Summer League.”

“Dude is nuts”

“Officially on the Chet train”

He looked so good that even the mayor of Oklahoma City was hyped after watching him play.

While it is a bit too early to be clearing the calendar for June in OKC, there is undoubtedly cause for optimism. Holmgren certainly has all the tools to succeed in the NBA, and his unique skill set helps him stand out from the pack.

He and Josh Giddey also seemed to click well together on the court, and the two, along with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, give Thunder fans the promise of a great future.
