The GOAT debate between LeBron James and Michael Jordan is something that can never truly get a definitive result. Although most players, coaches, and fans believe that Jordan should be considered the GOAT for having an almost spotless resume. But that doesn’t mean James is not considered the GOAT by them.

Speaking of the GOAT debate, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers recently shared his thoughts on the same. He believes that LeBron James has already had the greatest career of all time in the NBA, but still Michael Jordan is the GOAT.

Doc Rivers on LeBron James: “I think he’s going to have the greatest career of all time. I think he’s already had it. And that’s not … I think Michael [Jordan] is the greatest of all time, but that doesn’t take anything away from LeBron. LeBron’s had the greatest career”

I think he’s going to have the greatest career of all time. I think he’s already had it. And that’s not … I think Michael [Jordan] is the greatest of all time, but that doesn’t take anything away from LeBron. LeBron’s had the greatest career.

Rivers has cleared his stance about his pick for the GOAT debate. He certainly believes Jordan is the greatest player of all time and should be number one in the GOAT pyramid.

NBA Fans Are Confused About Doc Rivers’ Comments Regarding Michael Jordan And LeBron James

When we compare the careers of Michael Jordan and LeBron James’ respective careers in the NBA, most will reach the conclusion of the former being better than the latter.

Although Rivers essentially said the same thing, his comments about James having the greatest career of all time contradicts his statement about MJ being the GOAT. Here’s how NBA fans on Twitter reacted to Rivers’ puzzling comments about the two legends of the game.

The hell is the criteria for GOAT if it's not greatest career??? Lmao

True Lebron beat teams like 73-9 Warriors and Spurs both teams with like 4 HoF and best coaches of all time.

Makes no sense, if he’s had the greatest career of all time that makes him the greatest because he clears MJ as an individual player too

He mixing up the players. MJ had the greatest career but Lebron is the greatest player

People are literally too scared to say Lebron is the GOAT out of fear of pack mentality criticism. Saying “but I still think Jordan is the GOAT” is like nba virtue signaling

— Adam Richardson (@AdamRicho11) January 16, 2023

Name a player from a different sport that had the greatest career but isn’t the greatest player

— Coach Ham Burner’s burner (@TruLeeda) January 16, 2023

He claims that he “Doesn’t want to take anything away from him” then unnecessarily name drops MJ about being the GOAT.

— 🌊👑𝓓𝓪𝓷𝔃𝓸🇬🇭🃏 (@SupremeDanzo) January 16, 2023

LeBron is truly a great player, but losing 6 times in finals is why he'll never be considered the greatest. Except by the new generation who were given participation trophies.

— Richard Waters (@reggman44) January 16, 2023

Most fans believe that Rivers was confused and didn’t want to admit that LeBron is the GOAT and that’s why he took Jordan’s name. On the other hand, a few fans pointed out that having six NBA Finals losses to his name will always diminish LeBron’s chances of being considered the greatest player of all time.
