The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers in their most recent matchup this season. Considering the 76ers have one of the best records in the league, they were heavy favorites to win the game. Although the 76ers ended up winning the game, it was a very close affair as the final score stood at 113-112.

Moreover, the Los Angeles Lakers had a very real chance of winning the game until the very last second. Russell Westbrook could have won the game for the Purple and Gold, but he ended up missing the final shot and got berated by the fans.

Speaking of Westbrook, most fans will remember his comments a few days ago when he and LeBron James provided a locker room speech after winning against the Sacramento Kings. While James wanted the Lakers to stay greedy, Russ simply wanted his teammates to have fun.

Ham: “We know in this room what we can be. We just gotta keep stacking and keep building, keep building things the right way. Being together, being competitive, being aggressive, Let’s keep this going…”

James: “Let’s get greedy, let’s get real greedy.”

Westbrook: “Just keep having fun. Win, lose, or draw.”

Even LeBron was genuinely surprised after hearing Westbrook’s message for the team. But that’s not all, it gets even worse for Brodie. Since that infamous statement from Westbrook, the Lakers have a record of 0-3.

Los Angeles Lakers Continue To Struggle

The Lakers are currently on a 3-game losing streak and have dropped to an underwhelming record of 19-24. On top of that, the team has also slipped to the 13th spot in the Western Conference.

Keeping this poor form in mind, Russell Westbrook and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers players are certainly not having fun right now. All things considered, they need to get greedy as LeBron James mentioned earlier.

To be honest, the season can still be salvaged and the Lakers have a very good chance at finishing in a playoff spot before the season is over. But will they be able to achieve that with a divided mindset? That remains a huge question right now.
