The Phoenix Suns went 64-18 during the regular season, which was the most wins that they have gotten in a regular season in their franchise’s history. However, not too long ago, they were a team that was missing the playoffs.
Part of the reason for the franchise’s turnaround has been point guard Chris Paul, who provided the veteran leadership that helped them become a better team, on top of his elite play.
Recently, Chris Paul led the Phoenix Suns to a win against the New Orleans Pelicans, putting up 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists. Many NBA fans reacted to Chris Paul’s elite performance. While some messages were positive, others pointed out that this came against a team that has struggled for a large part of the season.

Many believe that the Phoenix Suns will get to the NBA Finals this year. They definitely have the talent to do so. Bill Simmons of The Ringer has previously stated just that, and added that they will be a “better playoff team than a regular-season team”.
“They are so lights out, unbelievable at the end of games. In a weird way, I think they’re gonna be a better playoff team than a regular-season team. I mapped out a big bracket and I was trying to figure out what’s Phoenix record going to be going into the Finals. That’s how confident I am they’re going to make it to the Finals. Will they have two losses? Round 1 it’s gonna be New Orleans or the Clippers… they’re sweeping either of those teams. Then you go to the next round and they’re gonna play the 4-5, which is Dallas/Utah. Dallas might win one. They’re gonna be better. Everything slows down and that’s like the greatest thing ever for Phoenix.
[Chris] Paul knows his team. He’s like an F1 driver, he knows his team, knows his pit crew. And they have Booker who is basically Kobe-lite at this point.”
It remains to be seen if the Phoenix Suns do in fact manage to make the NBA Finals. There are other great teams in the Western Conference such as the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors.
However, the Phoenix Suns have shown that they will be able to beat good teams that are in front of them in the past, and this was certainly a good start to their playoff run. Hopefully, these sort of performances continue for Chris Paul and the Suns, and we’ll have to wait to see if they can make the Finals and win the championship.
