So far, the 2022-23 NBA season hasn’t gone to plan for the defending champs. No one could have predicted before the start of the campaign that the Golden State Warriors would be 21-21 at the midway point but that is exactly where they find themselves at the moment.

They have had a difficult time finding the right balance between developing their youngsters and winning games, which was, in some ways, to be expected. It has led to chatter all season on them trading away those youngsters and getting someone who can help them win now, but the top brass doesn’t seem keen on parting ways with the likes of James Wiseman. They had resisted all the external pressure coming their way to make a move but it would appear now that they’d have to deal with some internal pressure from Stephen Curry. A Western Conference executive told Heavy’s Sean Deveney that the superstar would be pissed if the team does not make any trade this season, as he doesn’t have time to wait for the youngsters to develop.

via Heavy:

“Steph lets it be known, and he has let it be known that he is going to be 35 [in March], and he does not have time to wait for James Wiseman to make trips to the G League,” a Western Conference executive told Deveney. “He also is not of the mindset that they won a championship last year, and they should be satisfied with that – he will be pissed, frankly, if they do nothing and they lose in the play-in or something.”

A winner and competitor like Curry would obviously not be satisfied by just winning it all last season. Once you’ve tasted so much success as he has, you want even more and he would know that this team is playing nowhere near championship level-basketball at the moment. Still, this is perhaps the first time we’ve heard of Curry being pissed at the front office for potentially not making moves and it is a situation to keep an eye on moving forward.

Stephen Curry Took A Subtle Shot At His Teammates

To go along with their struggles in finding that balance, there is another simple explanation for why the Warriors have been so disappointing this season and that is their record on the road. They have one of the worst road records in the league at 4-16 and are in the midst of a 5-game road trip at the moment.

They won the first game of the trip over the San Antonio Spurs at the Alamodome in front of over 68,000 fans and Curry said that it took that big of a crowd to bring out their best performance on the road this season. Steph would be hoping that the win is a sign of things to come and we’ll find out soon enough if that is the case.
