The Orlando Magic have wrapped up yet another year with the team being one of the worst in the NBA. The Magic had become perennial Playoff contenders when they still had Nikola Vucevic, but have pivoted to developing young talent for the future now. Trading away Vucevic and getting the draft pick that would become Franz Wagner has allowed this team to have something to look forward to.
However, this season was one of terrible basketball by the Magic. They finished the season 22-60, the second-worst record in the league ahead of the Houston Rockets. The Magic will be in the running for the top pick but wanted to throw some competitive slander toward LeBron James.
LBJ made an extremely ill-advised tweet on 1 April saying he is out for the season as an April Fools' Joke. However, after the Lakers would lose to the New Orleans Pelicans on that day, LeBron would actually be shut down. After the Magic's season ended yesterday, they decided to copy LeBron's tweet and troll the 37-year-old.
A jab like this makes sense from a team like the San Antonio Spurs or the New Orleans Pelicans, as they actually beat the Lakers and are responsible for their post-season elimination. The Magic, on the other hand, is one of the only teams to be swept by the Lakers in this year's season series.
LeBron averaged 29.5 points against the Magic in their two games this season, including a 30-point triple-double in their last game in January.
The Magic are one of the few teams to have ever eliminated LeBron James mid-playoff run, as the 2009-10 Orlando Magic made it to the NBA Finals after overcoming LeBron's Cavaliers. However, a beef 10+ years in the past should stay in the past, as LeBron has since had double the playoff wins that the Magic have had in their history.
