Ray Allen Sends Heartfelt Message To Stephen Curry On Instagram: “The Torch Has Been Passed And It Is In Good Hands!"

Ray Allen On Steph Curry: "People Have Compared Him To Me, But He Really Operates In A Lane Of His Own."

On February 10, 2011, Ray Allen beat Reggie Miller's 2,560 three-pointers to set a new NBA record. But his reign has come to an end after ten years, as Stephen Curry surpassed his 2,973 three's last night at Madison Square Garden.

The struggling New York Knicks hosted the Golden State Warriors, and not only did they lose the game, but they also allowed another player to set another career milestone on their homecourt. Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers shut him down a few days ago, as they did not want him reaching the milestone on their ground but the Knicks did not have the same resolve.

A few minutes into the game, Steph drained two three-pointers on three attempts to set a new league three-point record. Allen previously stated that he had to be present in the arena when Steph breaks the record, and he did not disappoint. He sat alongside Miller throughout the game to witness the event.

After all was said and done, with the night culminating in a win for the Warriors, Ray Allen took to Instagram to further congratulate the 33-year-old. He uploaded a picture of him hugging Steph, and the caption read:

“The torch has been passed and it is in good hands! Congratulations to @stephencurry30 @wardell5 (Dell Curry) and the whole Curry family!”

It was an incredible moment in NBA history, as Steph is credited for revolutionalizing the game. He also shared the moment with his parents, who were both on-ground to experience the moment first-hand.

Steph beat Allen's record while playing 511 games less. Teammate Draymond Green has boldly stated that Steph will beat the record by 1,000+ threes. It will be interesting to see how many three-pointers he will record when he plays as many games as Allen did (1,300).

Although Steph's three-point record is the highlight of the game, it is worth noting that the Warriors won the game 105-96. They have regained their spot as the top seed in the Western Conference with a 23-5 record.
