NBA players are often subjected to criticism online and are even made fun of on a regular basis. This has almost become part of the job description when it comes to being an NBA player. But sometimes, players will decide that they’ve had enough and choose to respond.

That is exactly what Dallas Mavericks’ guard Reggie Bullock did to a sneaker journalist on Twitter. Nick DePaula, a sneaker expert for ESPN, took to Twitter to make fun of Bullock writing ‘Sniper Alert’ on his shoes and then having a bad shooting night during his game against the LA Clippers.

Listen I like Reggie Bullock and he means well…but he wrote “Sniper ALERT” on his Kobes and then went a whopping 0-2 in 31 minutes tonight

Bullock was not having it, getting on Twitter to put the journalist in his place. He responded by saying that the journalist should focus on his job rather than make comments about him, and sent a general invitation for people to come after him and try to insult him.

Who want smoke wit me? do ya job and take pics of shoes sucka

Reggie is far from the only NBA player to take exception to NBA fans roasting him. Most recently, NBA fans, including former player Isaiah Thomas poked fun at Kevin Durant for having dry skin and ashy legs. In response, Durant sent a message saying that he was going to play his “y’all broke’ card to shut them up.

The evolution of social media has allowed fans to feel that they can say whatever they want to players without any actual ramifications. But with players having access to social media on their own, it gives them a chance to have a direct channel of communication with fans, and respond to the slander online.
