The Sacramento Kings’ coaching search has officially ended.

According to a report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the franchise has agreed to terms on a deal with Warriors assistant Mike Brown to take over as the main voice in the locker room.

The Sacramento Kings have agreed with Golden State assistant Mike Brown on a four-year contract to become the franchise’s next coach, sources tell ESPN.

Brown and Kings negotiated deal over the past 24 hours, sources said. Brown emerged in recent days as the focus of franchise’s search and now he’s tasked with helping to end the organization’s 16-year playoff drought.

The Kings are a franchise that has struggled to get it right. Thanks to constant dysfunction and mismanagement by the front office, they are currently locked into the longest playoff drought in league history.

The Sacramento Kings have been a rebuilding franchise for quite some time. Despite a variety of promising players spending time in Sacramento, they simply haven’t been able to get back to being a playoff team.

As of today, the Sacramento Kings have officially been eliminated from playoff contention. This makes it 16 straight seasons without a postseason appearance for the team, the longest streak in NBA history.

For nearly two decades, the Kings have resided in the Western Conference bunker, losing again and again to miss the playoffs year after year.

But there is hope for the future. With De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Davion Mitchell, they have a solid young core to build around going forward. This summer, if they play their cards right, the Kings could come out looking better than they have in years.

Of course, the key to it all will be head coach Mike Brown. For a franchise that has seen many coaches come and go over the years, they need a long-term voice who will inspire the squad and maximize everyone’s talent on the floor.

As an ey-witness to the situation in Golden State, Mike Brown is as good a choice as any to turn the team around.
