Shaquille O'Neal Claims There Are Currently Only 4 Superstars In The NBA, Excluding Kawhi Leonard From The List
Shaquille O'Neal had a great career in the NBA. He won four NBA Championships and, ruing the prime of his career, was simply unstoppable. After retiring from the league, O'Neal still stayed in touch with the sport that gave him so much.
For several years, Shaq has become one of the most beloved analysts, frequently appearing on 'Inside The NBA' with TNT. On the show, Shaq engages in friendly banter with his fellow colleagues.
Apart from appearing on the show, he also makes occasional appearances on podcasts. During podcasts, Shaq has even more leniency to share his thoughts on what's happening in the NBA.
Recently, Shaq appeared on a podcast where he was asked about which players he considers superstars in the league. After all, not every NBA player can get the tag of superstar.
Upon being asked this question, Shaq named there are only four true superstars in the league as of now. But what's surprising is the fact that he left the name of Kawhi Leonard off the list.
"Steph Curry is a superstar. Giannis Antetokounmpo superstar. Who else? I'm not sure. Oh yeah, Bron. I guess yeah, KD."
After naming these four players, the host also asked Shaq's thoughts about Kawhi being a superstar. Right after asking the question, the host herself answered the question. She believed that there was a time when Leonard was a superstar, without a doubt.
But for now, he is only a star. Shaq agreed with the host's assessment and pointed out that she answered her own question.
Although Kawhi has a terrific resume, and one might certainly categorize him as a superstar, the fact that he has been injured for a while has made fans forget what he can do at his best. If he is healthy for the 2022-23 NBA season, he will have a chance at reclaiming his position as a superstar, but until then, Kawhi is a star.
