Stephen Curry finally gets the chance to share the court with Klay Thompson. Since June of 2019, Thompson had been out of action with two consecutive serious injuries that kept him out of the 2019-20 and 2020-21 season entirely. Klay made his return to the NBA this month, and Stephen Curry is ready to get back to winning ways with Klay going forward.

In a recent in-depth interview with The Athletic, Stephen Curry was asked what his advice to Klay Thompson is as he makes his return from this lengthy stint on the injury list. Curry remarked that Klay should just focus on his play and getting back into form and that he needs to be ready for playoff season so that they can win the NBA championship once again.

Steph Curry’s message to Klay Thompson?

There’s no pressure.

“He knows April, May and June is what it’s all about. I can’t wait to see it.”

“I’ve let him know: There’s no pressure. We got off to a good start this year so that we could have this buffer, this middle part of the year for him to get his legs back and understand what it feels like for his body to play at this level again. Two and a half years is such a long time between games. He can still shoot the ball, still crazy competitive and understands the long game. It’s only been a few games. For him to understand he’s going to get back to the player he is in due time … he knows April, May and June is what it’s all about. I can’t wait to see it.”

Clearly, Curry knows that Klay Thompson is going to need more time to find his full form. After all, Klay is returning after two years. During the interview, Curry also addressed the criticisms of his playing style, and accusations of how he ruined basketball, dismissing these complaints by fans.

Klay Thompson seems to slowly be regaining his form, as he scored 21 points against the Detroit Pistons, leading the Warriors in scoring for the first time since he made his return. If this is a sign for things to come from Klay Thompson, the Golden State Warriors will be thrilled with his performances up until this point.
