Steve Kerr has been around the NBA for a very long time at this point as a player and a coach. He was also the general manager for the Phoenix Suns over a decade back, so he has really seen things from all perspectives over the years.

One of the most heavily discussed topics among NBA circles in recent years has been the length of the season, with there having been growing calls for it to be shortened. Kerr has called on the NBA to shorten the season to 72 games in the past and after deciding to rest his stars for their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, he brought it up again.

Steve Kerr on the Warriors sitting their big names in Cleveland tonight

“I feel terrible for fans who bought a ticket expecting to see someone play. It’s a brutal part of the business. It’s why I’m going to continue to advocate for 72-game seasons.”

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins all sat out for this one as it was the second night of a back-to-back. The Warriors had also lost in overtime to the Boston Celtics the night before, so it wasn’t too big of a surprise to see them rest their stars here. What was a surprise though, is that the Warriors somehow won the game despite all their struggles on their travels this season.

Draymond Green Took Responsibility For The Warriors’ Struggles

No one could have predicted before the season that the Warriors would be so mediocre in this campaign. This win against the Cavaliers saw them improve to 23-23, which falls well below early-season expectations for a team that many thought would be near the top of the standings.

Draymond took responsibility for their struggles, saying that he hasn’t been himself this season due to the Jordan Poole incident. He hasn’t been the leader and strong voice he usually is because he is walking a fine line after punching his teammate. An NBA executive stated that the incident has caused chemistry issues on the team as the camaraderie is not the same anymore. There will be a day at some point in the future when we’ll find out just how much that incident affected the team.
