At 20-15 on the season, the Phoenix Suns remain one of the major powers in the Western Conference. As any Suns fan will tell you, most of their dominance this season, and over the past few seasons, has been led by young star Devin Booker who has quickly surfaced as one of the top players in the game.

While the Suns have struggled of late, they were able to pick up a win without Booker on Tuesday, beating the Memphis Grizzlies in an impressive 125-108 performance.

Unfortunately, the latest news out of Phoenix means the Suns will have to go without Booker for at least a month after suffering a groin sprain.

Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker will miss at least four weeks with a left groin strain.

The team confirmed Booker’s injury on Wednesday and said he’ll be reevaluated after the four weeks.

Booker, 26, has missed six of the past nine games because of hamstring and groin ailments. He tried to return for the team’s Christmas Day matchup against the Denver Nuggets but played just four minutes before having to leave the game.

He returned to Phoenix for further evaluation while the team continued its six-game road trip.

The Suns have enough talent to stay relevant without Booker, and their win over the Grizzlies this week proved that. But now they will have to go weeks without Book, and the supporting cast will face their biggest test yet.

Can The Suns Stay Alive Without Booker?

Even after last year’s disappointing playoff exit, there was a sense that Devin Booker could take the Suns to great heights in the West this year. But with his struggles to stay healthy, there are legitimate concerns that they can secure home-court advantage in the postseason.

For the Suns, the question will be many games they can win in this period without No. 1.

If things turn sour fast, they could always look at the trade market

As for draft picks, the Suns own their first and second-round picks for every draft between 2023 and 2030. Some players on the market could help get the Suns back to the 60-win team they were last season. If the team wanted to make a splash, the Suns have the draft capital to make that happen. Plus, the team also has the contract of Deandre Ayton to dangle as well. A lot could happen, but these are the best trade targets for the Phoenix Suns.

These next few weeks will be a challenge for Phoenix, who will have to lean on 37-year-old Chris Paul and an unproven Deandre Ayton to keep them afloat for the next month or so.

We will see if they are up for the task, but the Suns really can’t afford to waste another season of their star-studded core.
