Kyrie Irving really surprised everybody when he let the Brooklyn Nets know that he wants out of the team before the upcoming 2023 NBA trade deadline. Irving appeared to be happy with the Nets after a rocky start to the season, but things changed for the player and now the team is trying to find a trade partner for him.

Irving has been linked with a series of teams in the past 24 hours, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns. Given his level of play, he will get a lot of attention from rivals, but his behavior and ability to change his mind at any given minute could play against him if a team wants to get him a new deal.

While the Nets are looking for a trade partner for Kyrie, the rest of the NBA is wondering why he made this shocking decision. The truth is that Kyrie is a very private person who will speak about this when he feels is necessary. Meanwhile, rumors and speculation will continue circling him, who reportedly wants a 4-year, $198.5 million new deal.

Kyrie Irving Simply Wants To Leave The Brooklyn Nets

However, we can deduce thanks to Chris Haynes that it wasn’t a money issue for Kyrie. While Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Nets offered him a new deal that wasn’t very welcomed, Haynes explains that Kyrie made it clear it wasn’t about the money, and he would have made the same decision if a max contract was on the table.

Kyrie Irving’s camp did not negotiate after Brooklyn Nets presented an offer that was tied to team winning a championship, league sources tell @NBAonTNT, @BleacherReport. Told the issue was not about money, and now it’s said he wouldn’t even stay if offered a full max contract.

Kyrie Irving’s camp did not negotiate after Brooklyn Nets presented an offer that was tied to team winning a championship, league sources tell. Told the issue was not about money, and now it’s said he wouldn’t even stay if offered a full max contract.

Perhaps the situation he lived with the team at the start of the season made him change his mind about his future with the Nets, or perhaps the prospect of playing alongside LeBron James again led him to this decision, we won’t know until the player decides to break his silence and reveal his truth. As for now, the Nets keep trying trade partners, as Kyrie wants to leave before next Thursday.
