NFL icon Tom Brady appeared on the debut episode of Complex’s Card Shopping, where he shared a Michael Jordan story. Brady recounted calling Kenny Weyand, President of Jordan’s golf club, Grove XXIII, to get some Jordans to add to his sneaker collection, and 120 pairs ended up being sent his way.

“I always wanted to collect sneakers, but I didn’t want to have a huge investment,” Brady said. “I was playing, I had different shoe contracts, but finally, when I didn’t have a shoe contract, I called up my friend, Kenny Weyand … and I’m like, ‘Kenny dude, I need a hookup. How can I get to add some Jordans to my collection?’

“And he goes,’ What size are you?'” Brady continued. “And I said, ‘Size 13.’ So, he calls me two hours later, he goes, ‘Hey, I’m on the course with MJ, and he’s size 13, too. He’s going to send you a few pairs.’

“Within two days, I had 120 pairs of shoes show up,” Brady added. “I didn’t have enough closet space, so I sent MJ back something nice, and it’s just pretty cool to have Jordans from Jordan just sitting in my closet.”

That must be a pretty cool feeling. Jordan and Brady are widely regarded as the greatest players ever in their respective sports, and the two have grown closer over time. The latter shared that he reaches out to the former for advice from time to time.

“He just was and still is something that I really always will call for advice and I look up to [and] admire,” Brady stated. “Being a mentor for so many guys and always letting people know, ‘Hey, reach out if you ever need anything.’ And certainly a lot of people reach out to him for advice.”

The fact that someone as great as Brady, who won seven Super Bowls, looks up to Jordan in this manner speaks to the Chicago Bulls icon’s greatness.
