Trae Young had a fantastic playoff run in the 2021 playoffs. He managed to lead the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals, notably upsetting the 1st seed Philadelphia 76ers in the process.
At the beginning of that playoff run, the Atlanta Hawks notably beat the New York Knicks in the first round. New York Knicks fans are known for being passionate and loud, and Trae Young definitely received a lot of heckling. Trae Young himself wasn’t backing down though, and he even sent some trash talk the fans’ way during the series after hitting a game-winner in Game 1.
“Everybody’s chanting F-U … It got real quiet at the end, and I wanted to hear those F-U chants again.”
Recently, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the New York Knicks in Madison Square Garden, 117-111. Trae Young was instrumental in making that happen, as he had a 45 point 8 assist night, and hit some big shots towards the end of the game.
As expected, Trae Young received a lot of boos in Madison Square Garden due to the history between him and the New York Knicks. When asked about the boos from Knicks fans at the end of the game, Trae Young claimed that he “couldn’t really hear them”, and added that the atmosphere “wasn’t even that loud”.

I couldn’t really hear them for real. It wasn’t even that loud, to be honest with you.
There is no doubt that Trae Young is fine playing in a hostile atmosphere, and today’s game was just another example of him thriving under pressure. The Atlanta Hawks are a play-in tier team currently, and hopefully, they are able to make the playoffs.
Trae Young is making a name for himself as a legitimate superstar with the Atlanta Hawks. He has been stellar for them all season, and hopefully he continues playing at an extremely high level to close out the season.
